2026 Alaska State Amateur Men's Championship

Conducted under the Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA, along with applicable Local Rules and Conditions of Competition as established by the Alaska Golf Association (AGA) and the host facility.

Entry Fee

  • $350 per player
  • Carts not included, may be added via registration as "add on"

  • Championship Winner – Exemption into the 2026 United States Amateur, 1st Place Trophy , their Name on the perpetual state trophy, Exemption into the 2027-2031 Alaska State Amateur Men's Championship (Subject to residency requirement)
  • Championship Runner-Up – Exemption into the 2027, 2028, and 2029 Alaska State Amateur Men's Championship
  • 3rd Place – Exemption into the 2027 Alaska State Amateur Men's Championship

Transportation

Golf carts are optional and available at the player’s expense as an add on with their entry fee.

  • Limit: Two carts per grouptwo bags per cart
  • Shared carts are required unless a valid medical exemption is provided.

  • 3) 2025 Course Champions - "In the event a player has won multiple championships or exemptions, the exemption will be applied to the Runner up or the next player in that event without exemption" (i.e. Player won two club championships, the first course championship would apply for exemption, and the runner up in the second event won would gain exemption. Player won a state tournament and course championship, the course champion runner-up would be the exempt player)

Applicant Eligibility for the Alaska State Amateur Championship

To be eligible to compete in the Alaska State Amateur Championships, an applicant must:

  1. Be a bona fide resident of the State of Alaska, as defined in Section IV of the AGA Tournament Eligibility Policy;
  2. Possess an active Handicap Index® no more than 7.0 as of June 30th, issued by an AGA member club through the World Handicap System™;
  3. Have posted a minimum of seven (8) scores at AGA member courses within the two (2) calendar years preceding the competition

Championship Format & Schedule

  • 54-hole Stroke Play, contested at scratch

All players will compete at scratch. 

Rules & Local Policies

  • F-13: Relief from animal hoof damage
  • F-14: Loose impediments (e.g., wood chips) treated as Ground Under Repair (GUR)
  • Marked GUR: Relief permitted

Doubt as to Procedure
Rule 3-3 applies: If in doubt, play a second ball and report the situation to the Committee after the round.


Driving Range

Opens 1 hour before the first tee time each day.


Scoring & Pairings

  • Scoring: Electronic via the Golf Genius mobile app (one scorer per group)
  • Verification: All players must verbally confirm scores after the round
  • Backup: Keep a paper scorecard for personal records
  • Pairings: Posted via Golf Genius before Round 1
  • Re-pairings: Based on standings after each round

Player Agreement & Consent

By submitting an entry, each participant affirms:

  • They meet all eligibility requirements
  • Their entry may be denied or withdrawn by the AGA Tournament Committee or host club for:
    • Conduct deemed unbecoming
    • Non-compliance with AGA policies or tournament conditions
  • They accept full personal liability for risks associated with participation, including health-related risks
  • They waive the right to protest decisions made by the AGA or Tournament Committee
  • They grant the AGA permission to use their name, photograph, and event-related information in print, digital, and broadcast media
